Celebrating The Beauty Of Everybody - Patience Saleh

Happy international Women’s Day.

Celebrating women and their bodies.
Because today is women’s day, I really think we need to talk about bodies. You know, women's bodies. All of them. Not just the ones we see in magazines, but all of them.

Think about it – the bodies that grow babies, that nurse them, that keep going even when they're tired. The bodies that dance until their feet hurt, that climb mountains, that build houses. Bodies that have stories etched into them, scars and stretch marks and all.

We've been told for so long that there's only one way a woman's body should look. Like it's some kind of perfect statue. But that's just...not real. We're all different, and that's what makes us amazing.

I'm talking about the curves, the lines, the soft spots, the strong muscles. The bodies that have been through a lot, that have survived, that are still here. The bodies that fight for what's right, that speak up, that make art.

And you know what? Those bodies are beautiful. All of them. They're powerful. They're real. And they deserve to be celebrated. So, today, let's just appreciate them. Let's appreciate us. Let's celebrate every single woman, just as she is.

Happy international women's day.
